Two Weeks old today - Opening eyes and learning to walk

My favorite stage of puppy growth is always whatever one we're in.

This week most have doubled in size, have had their first nail trimming, some are starting to be able to balance on all four paws for short amounts of time, and most have opened their eyes.

Fun fact: Unlike humans who primarily approach the world with their sense of sight, dogs first approach the world with their sense of smell.  Though they can't see when momma Heidi comes into their space, they simply sniff out one of her teats to plug onto.

This week we also begin to take note of their behaviors and eventually will be able to notice some overall  temperaments in each up.  For now though let me introduce them individually...

Ladies first!

Jane
Black female - White collar

She knew how to pose just right and was very tolerant of being in this basket away from the others.  She stayed calm and just looked around at her surroundings which made it easy to get so many good pics.

AJ
Black Female - Pink Collar

AJ was a bit trickier to get a good picture.  She crawled around in circles in the basket and eventually stopped and half whined / half sang till we took our back to the rest.

Darla
White Female - Purple collar

Though she has just been reserved just today and her new adopted name is Daisy!
Meet Daisy!   She took her photoshoot like a champ and calmly look around.  She was also first successfully make her way to the new pooping of their den to do her business!

Buckwheat
Black Male - Brown collar

He did not want to show me his sweet face, but I'll get better ones in the coming weeks!  He's on the smaller side and also one of my daughter's favorites.   She will want to know all about the family that adopts Buckwheat.

AlfAlfa
White male - Light blue collar

Not only is he the star of Little Rascals which, if you haven't guessed is our kennel theme for this litter, this Alfalfa is also one of the biggest of the pups.  He was on the move too for this photoshoot.

Spanky
White male - Yellow Collar

The second of the stars, Spanky is definitely the smallest of the litter... at least for this week.

Waldo
White Male - Dark blue collar

Our second biggest pup Waldo also didn't want to sit still for picture, but wanted instead get back to feeding.

Porky
White Male - Black collar

Though not as big as Alfalfa and Waldo, Porky is also a chunk.  So far he hasn't been in a hurry to do more than feed.  He stayed calmly in this basket for he photoshoot and what's more cute is that he's only opened one eye.  As the weeks go on we'll see if he stays as nonchalant as he's starting out.

And LAST

Froggy
White male - Green collar

Though last on our list and last to be born, this little guy was near the first to open his eyes and definitely the first to begin to try to balance and walk on all fours.
