Our Dogs, Our Family

Our dogs receive regular immunizations and parasite prevention.  Our dogs are not housed in kennels but spend time with us in our home as well as play regularly with our children outside.  We try to incorporate them as much as possible to what we are doing as a family whether it's camping, hiking, playing at the park or just visiting the grandparents for the afternoon.

Our Family

We are a family with two dogs.  We love our dogs and they are members of our family.   We first fell in love with Choco (pronounced 'Chaco') when he came to our home from Capstone Treatment Center, a rehabilitation center for young boys.  He served as a therapy dog.  Choco was amazing from the beginning with our then 2 1/2 and 1 year old daughters.  We received Jetta about five years after.  She has also been an amazing addition to our family farm.  Before Choco retired we kept one pup from their last litter together.  Heidi.  A perfect mix of both of them.

T is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked with children and families since 2010.  He has personally experienced the benefit that having dogs in the home has on creating a peaceful environment.  The dogs provide a sense of calm which help children regulate their own emotions.

S has a degree in Family and Consumer Science Education.  After teaching for some years she is now a stay-at-home mom, and administrative assistant to Thomas' counseling practice, a foster parent, puppy mom, and an advocate for fostering teens.  She's grown up with dogs in her home and has a family member who was a veterinarian.  She is responsible for the care of the dogs and training throughout the day.

We have been a foster family since 2012.  Our dogs (and pups when we have them) also play an important roll in nurturing and comforting our foster kids in our home.
