Retired. It's official

Our Choco & Jetta are now officially retired

Choco is over 13 years old and about 10 months ago we found out he has lung cancer.  Though his limbs are growing weaker and his bark a lot more quiet, he's still moving, eating, and exploring as he pushes through this illness and old age like a champ.    We are just so grateful for all this time we're getting with him.

Jetta is only 7 years old but after 5 litters her body is showing the signs of wear.   She's been such a good mum to her pups and is now a wonderful playmate to her latest pup, Heidi.

Introducing ... Heidi! The newest Dam

We are so VERY proud to introduce our now 11 month old girl to you.  Heidi.  She is smart, energetic, black like her mum, and has the beautiful built like her pop.  She will be the next generation dam to Old School House Retriever puppies and we are terribly excited to see what her pups will be like when the time comes.  For now we're enjoying her in this puppy stage as we train and cuddle her.

She has grown to LOVE fetch with the frisbee.

Our first interaction with a baby was a huge success!  She was so gentle.

8 Weeks and ready for their human homes!

This litter has been so fun to raise thus far, especially since I know we won't have to say goodbye.  Holly will be 20 mins away and Heidi will be with us.

Though I forgot to get a family picture of us with Heidi, here are a few from her 1st 24 hours with Holly gone.

Heidi - 9 Weeks old

7 weeks - More time with mom

We were able to surprise both our kids and our friends with their new puppy for Christmas, both pups still have a couple weeks to spend with momma before they are ready to transition to human family life.

I think this was such a fun way to get a surprise puppy!  This gives us 2 weeks to get our house ready, learn as much as we can about dog training and to do it all with our kids to help us all have more practical expectations when pup comes home and inside our house for good.

During our puppy playtimes we've been introducing the kennel keeping both doors open and tossing bits of food in to help associate it with a positive experience.

Seven week old pups still have plenty to learn from their momma as they play and interact all together.
