4 Weeks Old

Pups are officially walking confidently and playing with us and each other!  This is when it gets fun and a lot more messy!

Becoming more active makes clipping nails and giving their wormer medicine and bit more tricky, but my kids LOVE this part of having puppies.  They each take their turn separate from their littermates to play with my kids.  This is a time we start to observe them more closely to see how they interreact with new experiences and with us.  Next we should have more to say about each pup as he/she differs from their litter mates, but for now some pictures of them exploring the deck.

3 Weeks Old

Pups are now getting to try a bit of solid food once a day!   They take to it Very slowly and don't eat much at first, but that will change soon!

Now that they are learning to walk and are getting steadier on their paws, we'll get them out away from their littermates to see how they interact with us.  Then in the following weeks we'll post what we learn about each one's temperament.

For now, here are some shots of them in the same basket as last week so you can see how much bigger they are getting!

1 Week old - They're here!

We are excited to announce the arrival of  Juniper, Spruce, Rosemary, & Maple!
Kennel names chosen by my 3 kids (now ages 8-13) who participate in the daily care and socializing of our pups.

The following pictures were taken at 3 days old.

Only 4? Yep only 4.  I'm kind of relieved that with only 4, as we will be able to attend easier to the daily needs as we raise these pups for the next several weeks.  We're thinking this low litter number might be because our male is getting along in years (11 years old), but I can't think about not having him around right now...

The following pictures were taking yesterday.  They've already grown twice their weight in one week.  Starting at 19oz and now 2lbs 8oz!

2nd   Spruce-  Black Male
