Going on 5 weeks

It was a beautiful weekend for celebrating Easter and getting some quality outdoor playtime with the pups!   Lots has changed this week.  Soon after last weeks post my 5 year old and and I prepared the puppy kennel for them to move into.  They were also fed their first taste of softened puppy food and as of yesterday, are now having two meals a day.   They've become a lot more playful with us and with each other.  Their teeth are pretty sharp, so their play with each other over these last few weeks is super helpful in them having a softer bite before arriving home to you. 


Sleepy (green paws collar)
He still likes to snuggle in, but he loved exploring the new sights and smells of the porch.  In all of these shots you can finally see his white chest marking. 

Batman (Black paw collar)

Batman is our only pup with two small white markings on his rear paws, just like his mama.  He was active and did not want to sit still for long. 

Phoebe (Pink collar)
So far she is the most playful and courageous of all the pups.  She also has a white marking on her chest, though it is very small and hard to see. 

Shadow (blue paws collar)
It is SO tricky to get good shots of puppies.  Shadow posed so nicely for me yet still had lots of energy to explore and be playful.  In the last picture you can see the tiny white marking on his chest. 

Rocky (green stripe collar)

Rocky was also great to sit and pose for me, but I think mainly because he was taking in being in this new space on the deck.  He sat a bit longer than the others just taking in the new environment.  Very observant.  

Oliver (yellow stripe collar)

Oliver backed away from being out in the open and untouched on the deck.  He soon made his way to the side of the house and followed it to my daughter's lap where he kissed her all over her face.  (She loves it of course).  He began as the smallest of the litter. 

Midnight (blue strip collar)
Midnight was pretty curious about the new smells and sights of the deck.  He was more interested in the newness of everything than in socializing.  He began as the biggest of the litter. 

Colt (black stripe collar)
Colt was equally curious and playful.  He'd rather be out exploring than on our laps, though when he he is on our lap, he slathers us in kisses. 

Those nails can get pretty sharp quick and if we don't keep them trimmed, mama won't want to feed them as often, and children won't want to play with them as long.  After church yesterday I got to clipping and giving each their 2nd deworming med.

Nearly 4 weeks

Pups are getting more curious and peeking over the side of the pool, but thankfully still sleeping a lot and not trying to escape just yet.  Their teeth have come through and they will begin 1 meal a day of mushy puppy food soon. 

But for now ... Introductions! 

Disclaimer:  Our kids help with determining their Farm Names to help us in identification till they receive their adopted names from you. ;)   Once you make a reservation we will replace their farm name with your given adoptive name. 

Green paw collar (Sleepy) 
Sleepy because he likes to settle in and sleep when held every day. 
There are only two types of white markings pure bred labs are allowed to have, either on their paw or their chest.  Three pups from this litter have a marking on their chest like our sire, and Sleepy carries the biggest one.  Though it's not big at all. Once they get more comfortable standing on a surface that's not their bed, I will be able to get a picture of their full body. 

Black paw collar (Batman)

Batman because he has a black collar and my 5 year old loves batman.
Batman is the only one in this litter with a small white marking on is two rear paws, just like his mama. 

Pink paw collar (Phoepe)
Phoepe is the only girl!!  She also has a very small white marking on her chest and is one of the two pups that are just a bit more curious about their surroundings right now. 

Shadow   (Blue paw collar)
Shadow is the third and last pup to have a small white marking on his chest.  So far he and Phoebe have shown the most initiative in sniffing out their surroundings (limited to our laps for now). 

Rocky   (Green stripe collar)
Rocky is one of the three pups that have no markings at all.  He's just black all over.

Oliver  (Yellow stripe collar)
Oliver is also black all over with no markings. 

Midnight  (Blue stripe collar)
Midnight is the last of the solid black pups.

Colt  (Black stripe collar)
Colt is our only yellow lab!  If he would have also been the only female we joke that we could have named them after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Almost three weeks old

Growing, eating, sleeping, growing, eating, sleeping, growing, eating, sleeping.   Growing so big that they were beginning to be able to climb out of their smaller 'den' as they stiffed out mama Jetta just outside of their space.  So to prevent any accidental escapes, this week we've moved them into the bigger kiddie pool.

They've also opened their eyes, received their first wormer medicine and their first nail clipping. 
It's tricky to get a good shot of them.  They just want to nuzzle their noses down in the soft blanket. 
We will soon have more agile playful pups as they get their balance on those four paws.  But for now, more growing, eating and sleeping. 

One week

Pups are one week and doing great!   Most have doubled in weight we will begin to see them slowly start opening their eyes this week!  They still just scoot around on their little bellies and usually only toward mama when she enters the bed to feed them.

And one yellow male.  All doing well.
